Griswold Family Vacation

It was Kylie's first vacation. We went to Pismo Beach with the family. Scott, Nicole, Maddy, Kayla, Chad, Candice, Grace, Zack, and of course Matthew, Me, and Ky were all there. I know, a lot of people right? *Giggle* We got there on the 6th and stayed thru the 8th.

Day one: We got to the hotel too early to check in...they were double cleaning it for Grace (due to her allergies) and Kylie (being a newborn). So, while we waited for our rooms to be ready for check in, we went to this farmers market called The Barn. It was really neat, very kid friendly. They had lot of animals there for the kids to see and feed. We saw a male peacock showing off. He had his tail feathers down till we walked up, then he started strutting his feathers like crazy *laughing*. They had fresh fruits and veggies, ice cream shop, and a tractor ride that the kids got to go on. After we left The Barn, we check in in to our rooms and then played some beach volleyball. That was so much fun, I used to be great at volleyball in Middle School and High School. I even played a little in College, but never in the sand...that is so difficult, but way fun! We had dinner at Brad's BBQ. It was pretty good...but we were eating outside and it was chilly...I was under the impression that being at the beach in July wouldn't be so cold...so I packed shorts, tanks, and sandals *smile*. But the food was great.

Day two: We got up and went next door to Chad and Candice's room for breakfast. Then got ready to head down to the beach. Baby girl didn't want to sleep at all, she was so excited about the beach...she was looking all around and smiling so much...she loved it. She is very outdoorsy...just like her mommy and daddy. I played in the sand with the girls for a little while before I had to feed Ky. Matthew put up the tent so that we could lay her in it and feed her out of the wind. But I wasn't able to use it because the bottle was too cold, she didn't want it...so I took her back up to the room to feed her. Meanwhile, Matt went with his dad to rent wet suites and boogey boards for the boys. We ate lunch and then went back down to the beach. It was so funny watching them catch the waves. I took a walk up and down the beach with Ky. She ended up passing out right away. Anyway, after the boys got back to shore, we packed up and played beach volleyball again...but everyone was so tuckered from the game the day before, and the boys were tuckered from being out in the ocean fighting with the waves *giggle*. Most of us got pretty burnt, but it was worth it...so much fun. To relax as well as rinse off the sand, we all got in the pool/spa. We decided then that we would have dinner at the Ol' Port Inn. We found it on our honeymoon, and thought everyone might enjoy it, so we took them there. Its this restaurant out on the end of the pier down Avila Beach. There are windows in the tables for you to look down under the pier and see wild life. Its were a lot of Sea Lions hang out. I love that restaurant. We were going to play some card games when we all got back to our rooms, but everyone was just so wasted from the busy day, we decided to call it a night.

Day three: We were all pretty tired and it was the last day. The boys were talking about going out boogey boarding again at like 6am, but when the morning came, they all decided not to. Ha! Saw that coming. I thought they were crazy for even talking about going out that early. It was freezing most of the time we were there...I couldn't imagine going out at 6 in the morning. We had cinnamon rolls and then got ready to do some shopping at the outlet malls. But Scott, Nicole and the girls were ready when we were, and everyone else was still trying to get things together and get ready, so we took a walk with the kids. We wanted to go to the pet shop, but it was closed because of a fire in the upstairs. So we browsed a few shops instead. Matthew was going to do family photos for everyone, but the spot we saw of Shell Beach Drive turned out to be private property...so we found a different spot...thanks to me, however, it was a waste of time. I left the SD card in the laptop, so the pictures we took had nowhere to save to. I'm so sorry everyone...my bad. *pout*. We went to the outlet malls, Matthew and I bought a few outfits from Carter's for Ky, then we all went out separate ways. We went to Moro Bay for lunch at the Pizzeria and to browse the gift shops. We wanted to find something for Kylie's first trip to the beach. We got her a onesie and us a shot glass to add to our collection. Then we headed home. Now, I have so much laundry and cleaning to do. Kylie's nose seems to be doing so much better now that we are home. She has been having a runny/stuffy nose. It started before we got there, and seemed to get worse while we were there. The ped said that there isn't much we can do because she is so young, just keep using the saline drops to break it all up.

*Giggle* I'm not sure how rambling this blog is, but that was our Griswold Vacation. I'm so glad we went. Ky's cousins just adore her...they were so enamored with everything she did. Sleeping, eating, smiling...it was cute.

We had a lot of fun. Now back to this desert heat. Blah!
