My daughter find the whiteboard calender on the fridge the most entertaining thing in the house. Of all her toys she can chew on and play with...noise makers and such, she would rather stare at the whiteboard!? Oh geeze! Its the cutest thing ever. She giggles at it, she stares at it and then squeals like it tickled her, and she yells/talks at it, as if they are carrying on a conversation. Its nothing special, just a whiteboard with my work schedule and appointments written on it, but she LOVES it! Give her that and the tags on her toys and blankets, and shes good to go...its like they say, "Who cares about the gift, its the packaging that matters." She is for sure my daughter.

Cake Talk
Okay, so here's the deal, I want to make my daughters first birthday cake, but I have never done anything extravagant before. I have made plain ol' cakes from a Sarah Lee box, *giggle*, so this could be interesting. I'm going to practice of course, but I only have 8 months to perfect it, and I am a perfectionist with extraordinary taste, so we will see if I can pull this off Happily!
The idea I have so far, I'm going to make chocolate cupcakes for all the guests, they will have green frosting on them with a miniature lady bug and daisy on each. Kylie's cake is going to be vanilla/chocolate swirl, all dolled up with ladybugs, daisies, and such. I want it to be Pink, Brown, and White theme. I don't know if I should make it with frosting or fondant. Fondant would look better and probably be a little easier for what I have in mind, however, its her first cake...it HAS to be messy and easy for her to dig into...so I'm leaning toward frosting. A friend of my moms (I mentioned her in my baby shower blog) bakes cakes and cookies and does an immaculate job. I love all her work, and she said that she will help me where ever I need it. She is going to send me recipes for the frosting and what not. I'm so excited and nervous though. I need supplies. I need cookie cutters for Kylie's name (its going to be pink with brown polka dots and daisies strategically placed). I don't know if I should make all the lady bugs out of chocolate with a candy mold, or if I should try to make it with frosting...again, I have never done this, so I don't know what is do able, easier, and will look good. I'm a wreck! *laughing*.
I found pictures of what I want to do, so we will see if I can come up with something. In the meantime, my little love bug just woke up, so I need to get her a bath and run a few errands. So, 'till next time.....

Pictures Pictures Pictures
Of course Im always taking pictures...look how dang cute she is! *giggle*

...until she caught me taking pictures of her. *giggle*

Look at her holding her own bottle! Oh my goodness, she is passing milestone after milestone, I almost cant keep up with her. Apparently she holds her bottle a lot with daddy, but this was the first time I saw her do it...I love it!

So, it was time to eat, daddy picked up Kylie, and said, "Let go of your toys sweetie." She picked up her entire playmat and held on it until I took it out of her hand. What a strong little booger. I guess she wasnt done playing.

GRANDPA IS HERE!
Little girl got to see her Uncle Corey and her Gramps today! She must have had her happy girl panties on, because she was ALL smiles today. This morning, she was just as content as can be. I love it. We had a lot of fun, look how happy she is and how much she loves her family.
She was waiting for mommy to finish getting ready to go to breakfast with Gramps and Uncle Corey. She wouldn't stop smiling, which made me smile of course. We were super happy girls this morning.
Corey is such a proud uncle. I love it!

Brings tears to my eyes EVERYTIME.
I hope Im my daughters hero.
She's never pulled anyone from a burning building. She's never rocked Central Park to a half a million fans, screaming out her name. She's never hit a shot to win the game. She's never left her footprints on the moon. She's never made a solo hot air balloon ride, around the world, no, she's just your everyday average girl (but) she's somebody's hero, a hero to her baby with a skinned up knee, a little kiss is all she needs. The keeper of the cheerios, the voice that brings Snow White to life, bedtime stories every night, and that smile lets her know, she's somebody's hero. She didn't get a check every week like a nine-to fiver, but she's been a waiter, and a cook, and a taxi driver, for twenty years, there at home, until the day her girl was grown. Giving all her love to her was her life's ambition, but now her baby's movin' on, and she'll soon be missin' her, but not today, those are tears of joy runnin' down her face. She's somebody's hero, a hero to her daughter in her wedding dress, she gave her wings to leave the nest. It hurts to let her baby go down the aisle she walks right by, looks back into her mother's eyes, and that smile lets her know, she's somebody's hero. Thirty years have flown right past, her daughters' starin' at all the photographs of her mother, and she wishes she could be like that, but she already is. She's somebody's hero, a hero to her mother in a rockin' chair. She runs a brush through her silver hair. The envy of the nursing home, she drops by every afternoon, feeds her mother with a spoon, and that smile lets her know, her mother's smile lets her know, she's somebody's hero...

What I, as a mother, have to look forward to.
At the age of 4:Mom knows everything!
At 8: Mom knows a lot!
At 12:Mom doesn’t really know everything.
At 14:Mom doesn’t know anything.
At 16:Mom doesn’t exist.
At 18: She’s old fashioned.
At 25:Maybe Mom does know about this!
At 35:Before we decide, let’s ask Mom.
At 45: I wonder..what Mom thinks about this?

I WANT THIS!!!
http://www.dimplesanddandelions.com/product_details.asp?Product_ID=38667
If only I had 60 bucks at my disposal right now...I love this...I want to put it on Ky soooo bad!
The things you do for your baby...
Anyone who knows me, knows I'm terrified of spiders.
Putting Kylie to bed, I saw one crawling up the wall, making it to Kylie's bedroom ceiling, of course I cant just leave it there, what if she got bit?
Fortunately, being small, I had the guts to try squishing it with toilet paper...but the damn thing fell into her crib, I squealed, found it, and killed it.
Kylie thought it was funny watching mommy balance on the foot stool to the rocking chair, then jump off it with a high pitched girly squeal.
After her crankiness from her sore gums due to the wonderful teething days we are currently experiencing, I'm glad I could make her smile! Made facing my phobia well worth it.

Slow down little monster
My little girl rolled over from belly to back. Now, I don't know if it really counts as rolling over on her own, she was in her crib and I had her on her tummy so I could brush her hair after her bath. She may have had a little help with the softness of the mattress...but of course, as a mother, its a huge deal to me. Lol. She love bouncing, so I'm beginning to think that its time for one of those bouncer things, the ones that the baby stands in and jumps and plays with toys. She still loves her play mat, but I think it gets boring quickly because she is laying down and would rather sit up or stand. She is just growing so dang fast!

August 8th
Our lady bug is 3 months old today...Matthew and I got engaged on August 8th 2008...so this is a very special day for our little family.
There is a blog I recently started following, and her daughter is wearing a onesie every month that says how many months old she is. They all match as if its a package deal...I wonder where she found them at. Although, I wouldn't really want to start now...it would be much cuter to start from month 1...not 3...then again...who know cares, right? I don't know. I guess I will just keep taking pictures of her all dolled up and label them by her age.
Anyway, I cant believe its already been 3 months. Wow, when people said it goes fast, I knew it would, however, that fast...did not expect. She is just as gorgeous as ever, and so dang happy. Her smile is the most genuine, sweet, and greatest thing in this entire world. I cant put into words how much it means to me...how my heart melts with joyous warmth just to see her. And, to top it all off, she has just about grasped a giggle. I say in just a week or two, she will have it down. Kylie has been cooing at us, and we swear she tried saying "sausages". No lie...we heard it *giggle*. She will be walking and talking in no time at all, so for now, I'm enjoying these moments...pure innocence. Not quite rolling over yet, Kylie has been practicing. But, none the less, she gets around by scooting on her back, pushing with her strong little legs and lifting her head and shoulders up as if she is going to just sit right up like a big girl. She is a wild one...although, I knew that before she was even born. That girl moved like no other in my belly...and its just as adorable now as it was then.

2 Month Welfare Check
Kylie is supposably underweight. She is 10 lbs 2 oz, putting her in the 15th percentile, 50th percentile for her length at 23 inches.
I think "averages" are bologna. I know how she eats, sleeps, & poops...*giggle*...so I know that she is healthy. The doctor was like you might try feeding her a little more...but I tried that already and she spits up a lot, as if it upsets her tummy. She cant handle more than what we give her currently. So, I will keep doing what I'm doing and gradually try feeding her more as I see she can take it. Mommies aren't stupid...we know what we are doing. Lol.
Anyway, she is doing great...holding her head up so well, pulling herself up with her arms, standing (with help of course), and smiling so much. Its a very rewarding feeling to see her progress.

My Sweet Tough Baby
Kylie had her first set of shots today. She was such a trooper. She didn't cry but for maybe a minute. Then she was all smiles again...till we got in the car when she passed out *smile* .
Her appointment wasn't actually scheduled till Monday, but the doctors office called me this morning telling me that she needed to come in and get one shot before her set on Monday. I didn't understand why, but I'm also not a doctor, so I took her in this afternoon...just to have the nurse ask me if I would like to just have all of them done today. What the heck? So I asked if that's possible...explaining what they told me over the phone...also telling her that Kylie is currently in treatment for thrush...she said she talked to the doctor and she gave the okay. Then I asked what shots Kylie will be receiving today...she said 3 in the thigh and one in the mouth. I about walked out when she said on in the mouth...turns out, she mis-spoke, it was an oral dose for the RotoVirus. Anyway, Kylie did great...a little sore tonight, but she is our tough little monster.

Thrush
My baby girl has Thrush...poor thing is miserable, but we got her on antibiotics and it seems to already be helping.
What is thrush?
Thrush is a yeast infection that causes white patches in the mouth and on the tongue. Thrush is most common in babies and older adults, but it can occur at any age.
What causes thrush?
You get thrush when a yeast called Candida, normally found on the body, grows out of control.
In babies, Candida causes thrush because babies' immune systems are not yet strong enough to control the growth of the yeast. Older people get thrush because their immune systems can weaken with age.
Some people get thrush when they take certain medicines, such as antibiotics or inhaled corticosteroids. People who have health problems, such as diabetes or HIV, are also more likely to get thrush.
What are the symptoms?
The most common symptoms of thrush are white patches that stick to the inside of the mouth and tongue.
In babies, it is easy to mistake thrush for milk or formula. It looks like cottage cheese or milk curds. Don't try to wipe away these patches, because you can make them red and sore. Some babies with thrush can be cranky and do not want to eat.
How is thrush diagnosed?
In most cases, doctors can diagnose thrush just by looking at the white patches. Your doctor will also ask you questions about your health. If your doctor thinks that a health problem, such as diabetes, may be causing thrush, you may also be tested for that condition.
How is it treated?
Thrush in babies is usually not serious, and you can treat it with antifungal medicine such as nystatin liquid. In most cases, you will put the medicine directly on the white patches. When a baby has thrush, the yeast can cause a diaper rash at the same time as thrush. Your baby may need nystatin cream or ointment for his or her diaper area.
To treat thrush in adults, at first you will probably use medicine that goes directly on the white patches, such as a liquid or a lozenge. If these medicines don't work, your doctor may prescribe an antifungal pill.
How can you manage thrush?
If your baby has thrush, it may help to:
Clean bottle nipples and pacifiers regularly using hot water.
Clean your nipples with medicine, such as nystatin, if you breast-feed your baby. Breast-feeding mothers and babies can pass a yeast infection back and forth.

Growing like a weed.
Kylie is growing so dang fast. She holds her head up strong for long periods of time, she is scooting all over the place and almost able to roll over from back to tummy. Good God! I didn't even think about the fact that she is going to be crawling soon and following us around...getting into stuff...WOW! Reality has struck me!
She looks like she is going to have curly hair...or wavy at least, and I cant tell for sure, but her eyes might turn brown. Such a beautiful little angel.
She has been such a happy girl (my little smilie Kylie)...playing with her spit bubbles *giggle* and last night we walked around the front yard and she couldn't get enough of the big trees. She loves the outdoors. She is just so aware...so intrigued by everything...curious...she is smart.
Last night, she had a bottle at 7pm...then fell asleep and was out for the night...I figured she would wake up around 2 or 2:30am, as she usually does, and I would feed and change her. Well....she didn't...actually, let me specify...if she did, momma didn't wake up. Yeah, I'm an awful mother. I forgot to turn the baby monitor back on...she is literally right next door, and I didn't hear her cry IF she woke up at 2am. But, I woke up at 5 hearing her fuss. She wasn't crying like she does if she has been crying for more than a few minutes, so I'm thinking she slept through the night. But what if she didn't sleep the whole time? What if she woke up, cried for me, and when I didn't show up she cried herself back to sleep till 5? Doesn't that fall under neglect? I feel sooo bad. That means she went like 10 hours without a bottle. However, she is just as happy today as she was yesterday. Acted a little out of the ordinary for a few this morning, but I think it was just a little gas because she burped really well for me and now she is napping.
Anyway, she is growing so fast...before we know it, she is going to be walking & talking. Help us all *giggle*.
Bottles, Diapers, Keys...adventures of a workin' mommy...
Kylie has been attending Daycare. I started her in there before going back to work, for one, so she could get used to the idea (as well as us) and another reason was so I could get things done around the house...uninterrupted. We have to pay to keep her spot anyway, so might as well use it, right? Anyway, I really like this daycare...its on base, so its clean and professional. They don't just let the kids be lazy, they teach them things, and interact with them...I think that's fantastic. The only complaint I have...and I guess it really isn't a "complaint" its more of an observation...the teachers in Ky's room are a little overly concerned. Don't get me wrong, I want them to take care of her and pay attention to the things that may seem abnormal...but babies spit up and sleep...that's just how they are. One of the girls there said, "I noticed Kylie has been spitting up a lot. Its not something I think is very normal...most babies don't spit up soo much after every feeding. Does she do that at home with you? I was thinking you might want to check with her doctor about acid reflux." I explained to her that I already have talked to the pediatrician because I noticed it also, and they said that as long as Kylie is gaining weight, she is eating, sleeping, and what not...its not something to worry too much about. But if she is loosing weight or acting out of her normal state, then bring her in. I explained this a few weeks ago...but the day care keeps bringing it up as a concern of theirs. I appreciate it, but I'm a good mom, Matthew is a wonderful dad, and if there was a problem, we would most definitely take her in and find a way to take care of it. One day, Matthew picked her up, and they were worried because she slept for about 3 hours while she was there...Well, that's what babies do. They sleep...a lot. Lol. She is only 2 months old...she is a growing girl and needs her beauty sleep. I think she was finally able to sleep so long there because she is getting used to it...before, she couldn't fall asleep because it is a different surrounding, new people, screaming babies all around her. Not something she was used to before. All in all though, I really do like this daycare. I trust them with my daughter, and that's a big deal.
Kylie is still trying to break that little tooth through...it causes her a significant amount of pain at times, I can tell. Breaks my heart that I cant do much for her. She doesn't like the teething rings, the gel doesn't seem to numb it long enough to make using it worth while...so, I guess its just something we all three have to ride out. *pout*
I'm back to work, and I enjoy having a break from the house...get some outside social time...some extra income...its nice. I just miss the hell out of my little girl though. It is so exciting to get off work and get to pick her up from daycare and come home to daddy. It's the highlight of my day.
