Lets Talk Milk...
The best way to go about freezing breast milk is to designate a time of day when you will be able to pump for an extended amount of time uninterrupted. You can pump, store the milk, and be ready for when a time arrives when you don’t have time to pump and need to grab the breast milk and feed your baby ASAP. Some mothers may not have a time slot where they know they can pump uninterrupted so the chaos method works too. Just pump whenever you can squeeze in the time. Every little bit helps. Pump the milk into a bottle and then pour it into a special plastic baggie (see below). One easy way to get all of the breast milk in the bag without spilling it everywhere is to set up the bag in a coffee cup so that it forms to the cup and stays in place. This way it won’t spill everywhere.
The best way to store frozen breast milk is special small bags specifically designed for breast milk. You can buy the bags just about anywhere: the grocery store, online, etc. They are usually available in packs of 25 or so. The bags are durable and completely sterile. They are also free of chemicals unlike regular plastic baggies, so your milk will be kept clean and safe for your baby. Most of the bags come with a double zip lock top. Some have a twist tie top but those could easily pop open and the precious breast milk will spill everywhere, so generally speaking the zip lock bags are a better choice.
When the milk freezes in the bag you can press it flat which makes it great for storage because you can stack the bags side by side. Most bags allow you to write directly on the bag with a marker. This way you can put the date that the milk was pumped on the bag. Frozen breast milk is generally good for up to six months whereas breast milk that you leave in the refrigerator should be used within 24 to 48 hours.
When it comes time to use the frozen breast milk simply place the bag in a cup or bowl of hot water. It will warm the milk. Then pour it in the bottle and feed the baby. Remember when you are heating up your breast milk to never microwave it! Microwaving breast milk or any other food or liquid for an infant can leave hot pockets that the baby could severely burn its mouth on.

BabyShower March 20th, 2010
Baby Shower was Awesome! We expected 17 people, but only 7 ended up being there. It happens, and I'm not upset over it. We had a blast. I have pretty much the BESTEST friends and family EVER. Kylie girl has a lot of love around her...we are very fortunate ladies *wink*
I owe a HUGE thank you to my momma (grandma) and Cathy! They threw the greatest party. I also want to thank Jan...she makes cookies, cupcakes, cakes, etc. and she sent, from CO to CA, these amazing cookies for favors at the shower. She made them as a surprise for me and Kylie. You have to see the pictures,
I will be posting pictures tomorrow, gotta go to my moms to steal 'em from her camera hehehehe.
Anyway, my mom and Cathy came over with all the stuff (food and gifts) and my mom bought a huge balloon with Pink and Green polka dots...its a buggy that says "Baby Girl" and she got flowers. So cute! I love them! The cake was so cute too. The lady at the store smudged the side a bit (I guess I just have bad luck with cakes, if you recall our wedding cake incident *giggle* ) but it is still beautiful...there were little booties on it that are keepsakes, you can write the name, DOB, weight, and length on them after the baby is born. Way Fun!
The girls all played the games that I listed on the previous blog post...it was so much fun. I love watching people play the games and win the door prizes! I have such cute friends! Kylie got more clothes (lol, of course, cause no one can pass up buying cute baby girl clothes) and some more diapers and a few other necessary accessories that will come in very handy. Again, thank you all for everything. I love you all! Xoxo.

You might think Im overly prepared...
♥Diapers: Take more than you think you'll need, as many as one for every hour of your outing. Yep, you read that right.

♥A foldaway changing pad (most diaper bags come with one)

♥1 receiving blanket in case you need to put your baby down, or it gets suddenly chilly
♥An extra sweater, shirt, pants, and pair of socks for baby
♥A sun hat
♥Baby sunscreen (if baby is younger than 6 months, keep him out of direct sunlight; apply sunscreen only when necessary)
♥Baby's bottle, if she uses one. Make sure you give her pumped milk within 10 hours of taking it out of the fridge.
♥If you're using formula, bring a bottle with dry formula already in it, or try single portion packets.
♥At least one toy
♥A favorite comfort object, like a lovey
♥A bib
♥Two extra pacifiers (if you use them) stored in a clean plastic bag
♥A few large plastic bags for sealing and tossing dirty diapers or for taking home soiled clothes.

Being Patient...
I love my daughter with everything in me...but my body is so achy, sometimes its a lot to take. Getting up can be hard at times, weather its pain in my back, bladder, or ribs. Speaking of ribs, they aren't kidding when they tell you that as you get closer to the end of your pregnancy, your ribs begin to spread outward...you can feel the new expansion, and there is a burning sensation right between my ribs, upper belly...almost like when the skin has been rubbed raw. I rub my tummy a lot, but not so much that high up and the rest of my bump doesnt hurt at all, so thats weird. Its crazy what us women are able to withstand for this amazing miracle and experience. I wouldn't have it any other way...but I'm still human and, on occasion, need to complain. Pregnancy sleep is difficult, but I guess it prepares you for the lack of sleep you'll get after the baby is born (that's the optimistic outlook on it anyway *wink*). One thing I cant complain about though...feeling her move in there, its a night and day difference now compared to just a month ago. Just the other night, she was tickling me to the point I was literally Laughing Out Loud! If someone were to walk by my bedroom door and see that I was alone in bed, watching American Idol, giggling, and saying, "Stop it, your tickling me!" they would probably think I was absolutely nuts. Haha! But she was, with her little feet, she kept sweeping them along my right side and it tickled so bad I was jumping and giggling. I love it though...she is too damn cute!
Daddy is on his way home right now, should be here in about 2 hours. Kylie girl and I got ourselves a new job (way awesome). We officially quit that crummy job as a security guard, and are moving on to new and better things. Tomorrow is Maternity pictures and BabyShower #1. Monday is our first day at our new job. Next weekend, BabyShower #2. Weekend after that, daddy graduates the academy and comes home to us for good! Is March our lucky month or what? I don't know what we did to deserve so much, but apparently we have been pretty good girls. I have to say, I'm loving 2010! So many great new things...even if they are life changing, they are for the best. I look forward to the next chapter. Is it May yet? *giggle*

Sleep?: Sleep??? Whats that??? Lol, just kidding...its as good as pregnancy sleep can get I suppose
Milestones: getting closer and closer to the finish line of this chapter...ready for the next :o)

Dear W-I-N-D:
Tuesday, March 9, 2010
Oh Kylie Girl...
She is getting so big, I can feel the difference. My uterus is slowly feeling more and more crammed, but she still moves so much...I love it. She is getting stronger too...the little punches and kicks that used to tickle are now starting to hurt at times, lol, not make me cry hurt but more like "damn, that was quite the punch" hahahaha. She is at the point where from now till she is born she is putting on her baby weight...so I'm sure I will be expanding a little more quickly. Still getting quite a bit of indigestion and the occasional heartburn...its uncomfortable, but I'm dealing with it. Yesterday, I took a 2 hour nap (when I should have been doing laundry and dishes) and she was having a field day in there...she was so active and I was so tuckered and drained. I wish I had half her energy yesterday, could have gotten a lot done :o)
Its so funny how she lets me know when we are hungry, cause sometimes I literally get so distracted that I forget to start lunch or dinner...I know, probably not good, but we are healthy (aside from the common anemia some women experience during pregnancy, which by the way, if you are one of them, careful with the iron supplements...causes mild constipation), so its not as bad as it sounds...anyway, she lets me know with little kicks and punches, and then she lets me know how happy and content she is after I eat...she rolls around in there. I can tell the difference between, "I'm not comfortable" or "I'm hungry" movements to "I'm so happy momma!" movements. *giggle* When I rub her (as she pushes outward) I know what is what. Her face is down in the lower left side and her knees are usually what is pushing out as far as she can on the right side just next to my belly button...its wonderful knowing how she is sitting in there, which as I explained in a previous blog she is "sunny side up". And feeling her elbows and fists wipe across the side of my belly. Gets me all warm and fuzzy inside.
I cant wait till Saturday! Baby Shower #1...Don't worry, pictures to come! *wink*

All ready for the baby showers
Daddy and I got Kylie girl a necklace (10K white gold). We have been looking for one to buy when she is born and give her when she turns 18 (or so). Kylie loved having daddy home for the weekend...I could tell...she was so active hearing his voice. She was playing with him last night...I put her on his back so he could feel her moving around and it was so funny, it was like she was kicking his butt. Lol. This morning, Matthew put his face to my tummy and said, "I love you Kylie" I was smiling ear to ear because that was the first time he has told her he loves her...he says it to me and sends text messages saying that he loves us both...but to my tummy, that was the first time and it was precious. I love how wrapped around his finger this beautiful love bug already is.

SINGLE DIGITS BABY!
Time for Another Growth Spurt!
It's time for another growth spurt! (You've been hearing that a lot lately, huh?) For the next eight weeks, your baby's gaining more weight than height -- and she's pushing nearly 5 pounds now! (FYI, the bigger your baby grows, the harder it will be to get an accurate size update via ultrasound. But be assured that she's fattening up and getting nice and ready for life on the outside.) This week also boasts some exciting reproductive developments. Her clitoris is already relatively formed. Her Lungs are completely formed.

The Ultimate Hospital Packing Guide: Must-Haves for Every Mom-to-Be
♥Nursing bras and pads and a few pairs of underwear. Bring on the granny panties (it can be messy down there the first few days after delivery).
♥A comfy robe to layer over breezy hospital gowns. (C-section mamas will be doing a lot of hospital hallway-walking).
♥Socks: Don't overlook these feet-warmers. Studies show that wearing them to bed can actually help you nod off faster.
♥Slippers: You don't want to pad around the hospital hallways in just your slippery socks -- or in uncomfortable shoes, either.
♥Going-home outfit for you: You'll definitely still be in maternity clothes at this point - as though you're five or six months along.
♥Sanitary pads: Most hospitals have, but it's good to bring your own just-in-case supply for postpartum bleeding.
♥Toiletries: Shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, face wash, makeup.
♥Concealer: Itll help cover up redness, blotchiness, and post-delivery blemishes for all the zillions of photos that'll be taken after baby arrives.
♥iPod and headphones/speakers (or a portable CD player and tunes).
♥Books and magazines: You have no clue how long labor will be. When doesn't celeb gossip help the time fly by?
♥Pillow from home: It's decidedly cozier than those hospital-issued ones.
♥Lanolin cream: This nursing essential soothes sore nipples as you adjust to your baby's feeding techniques.
♥Basic toiletries for your partner: Let's be honest -- he probably doesn't need much more than a toothbrush and deodorant..
♥At least $20 in cash: Bring lots of singles for the vending machine and snacks.
♥Cell phone and, just as important, charger. Using your own helps avoid those pricey hospital phone bills.
♥Digital watch or one with a second hand (for timing contractions).
♥Digital camera and video camera (if you've agreed to go there).
♥Blanket and pillow for your partner: If he'll be staying over, he has to crash on a chair somewhere.
♥Car seat, already installed, natch!
♥Layette stuff: Newborn hat, two receiving blankets, several burp cloths, two "onesies," and two pairs of socks.
♥Baby going-home outfit: Try a kimono onesie (so you don't have to pull anything over your newborn's head -- they're not big fans).
♥Diapers and wipes: Don't forget that awesome diaper bag you've been dying to break out.
♥Nursing pillow: It'll make those first (potentially tough) feedings a bit easier.
♥Completed hospital registration forms. Bring a copy of your pre-reg documents in case they can't dig yours up.
♥Birth plan: Remember to keep it short and sweet!
♥Insurance cards.
♥Address book: For the random relatives who aren't in your cell phone but still demand to hear the good news ASAP.
♥Your driver's license: You'll need it for admission to the hospital. Make sure your partner has his, too.
http://www.parents.com
REGISTRY 101
♥Diapers: Whether you're going the re-usable or disposable route, you'll need plenty on hand.
♥Burp cloths (fabric diapers can also double as burp cloths).
♥Disposable wipes. Always have a few packets on hand - this is not an item you want to run out of.
♥Diaper rash cream
♥Diaper pail: Choose one that you can operate with one hand, one that uses regular garbage bags, and has an odor control system.
♥Diaper bag: Make sure it hangs well from your stroller handlebars.
♥Baby monitor
♥1 or 2 pacifiers, if you want to use them. Be sure to get ones labeled "newborn."
♥Portable crib, commonly known as a Pack 'n Play, for when you visit the grandparents.
♥Co-sleeper. It's so nice to just reach over to nurse your baby at night. But you can easily substitute the portable crib if it's easier.
♥6 bottles, including nipples: Make sure you buy nipples for newborns.
♥Bottle brush
♥Breast pump: Go for the fancy automatic double pump if you're going back to work.
♥Breastfeeding pillow
♥Nursing pads
♥Lanolin lotion for sore nipples
♥Breast milk freezer bags or storage cups
♥Thermometer. The rectal kind. Don't be freaked out -- once you do it, it's a piece of cake.
♥Nasal bulb syringe for clearing stuffy noses
♥Baby nail clipper
♥Alcohol swabs and bandages
♥Infant bath tub or seat with a newborn "sling"
♥Baby shampoo and cleanser
♥Baby lotion
♥2 to 3 hooded towels that let you swaddle baby post-bath
♥Crib
♥Changing table with pad (you can also covert an existing dresser by topping with a pad)
♥Rocking chair
♥ExerSaucer. You won't use it for a few months, but once your baby hits 4 or 5 months, it will blow his little mind.
♥Swing or bouncy seat. The movement makes almost all babies very, very sleepy.
♥Activity mat (also called the baby gym)
♥Mobile for the crib: Think music, lights and movement. We like ones you can turn off remotely.
♥Mobile for the changing table: Distract your baby from the fact that his bum is cold.
♥Crib bumper
♥2 to 3 fitted crib sheets
♥2 waterproof mattress pads
♥2 or 3 changing pad covers
♥A rear-facing infant car seat with base. If you have two cars, you'll need a second base.
♥Baby carrier and/or sling
♥Stroller: Baby won't sit up for a few months, so you'll need a Snap 'n Go, a travel system or a model in which baby can fully recline.
♥A "take-me-home" outfit. Look for a set that's cute for photos, but practical (something warm for winter or light for summer).
♥6 to 8 onesies, half short sleeve and half long sleeve. Choose kimono styles that don't pull over baby's head to cut down on screams.
♥5 pairs of pants
♥6 to 8 sleepers (aka coveralls) with built-in footies, or rompers if it's spring or summer
♥5 to 6 sleeping gowns, which snap5 to 6 sleeping gowns, which snap, zip, or cinch closed at the bottom, making late-night diaper changes a breeze.
♥At least 3 sleeping gowns should have built-in mittens to cover fast-growing baby fingernails and avoid scratches on smooth baby skin.
♥1 to 3 sweater cardigans or zip hoodies, depending on the season
♥1 snowsuit or winter bunting (for winter babies)
♥1 to 2 pairs of mittens if they aren't included in the snowsuit (for winter babies)
♥8 pairs of booties or socks
♥4 to 6 hats, including at least one sun hat
♥4 to 6 receiving blankets. One should be soft and thick enough to be a blankie contender; two should be thin enough for your diaper bag.
♥4 to 6 bibs. At least two should be waterproof. Once baby starts solids, you'll need something you can just hose off.
♥Velcro swaddle. This crucial miracle item may be the key to peace in your household.
♥Sleep sac, for when baby outgrows the swaddle or sleep gowns, but is still too young for a blanket in the crib.
